The customer portal

What this does

The portal at /portal is a customer's own view of the shop, with your logo and branding. Signed in, they see Your Vehicles (what's on file, with each vehicle's service history), Recent Estimates (review and approve), Recent Invoices (view and pay), and Upcoming Appointments. Approving an estimate and paying an invoice from the portal use the same share pages as the links you text or email, so nothing behaves differently because it came through the portal.

How customers sign in

No passwords. On the portal login page they enter their email and get a link that signs them in; the link is good for fifteen minutes and the session it opens lasts seven days. A person who is a customer at more than one shop gets one link per shop in the same email and picks. An email the shop hasn't enabled for the portal gets a polite message to ask the shop.

What they can see

Only their own records: vehicles on their customer record, and the estimates, invoices, and appointments attached to it. Documents you mark portal visibility on the document review page appear alongside; internal ones don't. The Privacy Policy and Terms of Service links come from Legal pages.

Before you start

The customer portal is a plan feature (customer_portal, Business tier and above). Branding under Settings → Appearance, legal pages filled in, and the customer's email on their record.

Common problems

A customer says the login link never arrives. Their email on the customer record differs from the one they typed, or portal access isn't enabled for them; see Portal access.

They can't see a vehicle. It's on a different customer record (a spouse, the company). Move the vehicle or merge the records.

Can they book from the portal? Not yet; booking is the public booking page, which you can link from the portal domain.
