Share links and online payment

What this does

Every estimate and invoice can have a share link: a page the customer opens without an account that shows the document with your branding. On an estimate they can approve or decline; on an invoice they can see the balance and, when online payments are enabled, pay it by card.

How links work

The link is created the first time you send the document by email, or when you copy it from the document. It is tied to that one document. It does not expire; it stops working only if you regenerate it, which you'd do if it was sent to the wrong person. Anyone holding the link can act on the document, so treat it like the document itself.

What the customer sees

Estimate: your logo, "Prepared for", the vehicle, lines and prices, discounts, total, valid-until date, and approve/decline buttons until they've answered.

Invoice: the same header, then subtotal, discount, tax, Amount Paid, and Balance Due as the headline, with the due date. A draft invoice is labelled as such. If online payment is on, a pay button.

Online payment

When the customer pays from the link, a card checkout opens for the remaining balance. On completion the payment is recorded on the invoice automatically, with the method Credit Card and the processor's transaction reference; status re-derives to Partial or Paid. A receipt email goes to the customer.

Online payments are recorded only by this automatic path. Never record a card payment taken through the link by hand; if one appears to be missing, contact support rather than entering it, because a manual entry would double-count it when the automatic record arrives.

There's nothing to configure: the checkout runs through LogMyRepair.app's own payment account, and every issued invoice with a balance gets the pay button. See Integrations.

Common problems

The pay button isn't there. Online payments aren't enabled for the shop, the invoice is still a draft, or the balance is zero.

"Payment failed to start." The checkout couldn't be created. Have the customer try again; if it persists, check Settings → Payments.

A customer paid online but the invoice still shows a balance. The confirmation from the processor can lag by a minute or two. If it's still missing after that, contact support with the invoice number. Do not record it manually.
