Clocking in and out

What this does

The clock records who worked on what for how long. Every role can clock in; technicians do it constantly. Time is the basis of the efficiency numbers on the dashboards and of technician pay when the shop pays hourly.

Steps

Clock in. From the technician dashboard (Time & Status) or the Shop Floor board, choose a work order from Select work order to clock in, or General (no work order) for shop time that isn't billable to a job. You can have one active clock at a time; clocking in while already in is refused with "Clock out first."

Switch jobs. Use Switch to… and pick the next work order. It clocks you out of the current one and into the new one in a single step, so there's no gap.

Clock out. End your current entry. Do it before you leave; an open clock keeps a bay Occupied and inflates your clocked hours.

Today's Entries on the dashboard lists each clock-in, the job, and the duration, with This Week as a Monday-to-Sunday summary.

What the numbers mean

Clocked hours are the time between clock-in and clock-out. Billed hours are the labor hours on the work orders you were clocked into. Efficiency is billed divided by clocked, as a percentage; over 100% means you beat the book time.

Common problems

"Already clocked in. Clock out first." You have an open entry, possibly from yesterday. Clock out, then in.

"No active clock-in found." You tried to clock out or switch with nothing open. Clock in first.

My hours are wrong. Entries can't be edited from the dashboard. Tell a manager; they can see every entry in the Team view.
