What this does

A bay is a place work happens. Appointments and work orders are assigned to one, the Schedule is laid out by bay, and the Shop Floor board shows what's in each. Your shop type may call them something else (hangar, bench); the screen is the same.

Before you start

settings.bays — Owner, General Manager, Service Manager.

Steps

  1. Settings → Shop Profile, the Shop Bays card.
  2. Add a bay: Bay Name (what your technicians call it: "Bay 1", "Alignment Bay") and an optional Description ("2-post lift, alignment rack").
  3. Save. It's immediately available on appointments and work orders.
  4. Edit a name or description any time; assignments follow the bay, not the name.
  5. Delete a bay you no longer have. Jobs assigned to it become unassigned.

Common problems

A bay doesn't appear in the dropdown. It hasn't been created yet, or was deleted. Check the Shop Bays card on Settings → Shop Profile.

Two technicians share one bay. Create one bay; the technician assignment is separate from the bay assignment.
