What this does

Accounting → Ledger → Memorized Transactions holds templates for things that repeat: the rent check, the software subscription on the card, the monthly loan journal entry, a retainer invoice. Each has a schedule; the app generates the transaction when it's due, either automatically or as a reminder for you to approve.

Steps

  1. Memorize from an existing transaction (the option on a check, charge, bill, invoice, or journal entry) or create one here: Name, Transaction Type (Check, Credit Card Charge, Vendor Bill, Invoice, Journal Entry), the vendor or customer, Amount, Category or lines, Memo, optional Group.
  2. Frequency: Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-Annually, Annually, with Every N periods for every-other-month and the like. Next Date, optional End Date.
  3. How it fires: Auto Enter posts it on the date with no action from you; Remind Me creates it as pending and shows it in the upcoming list for approval, Days in Advance before it's due; Never (Manual Only) waits for you to Generate now.
  4. Toggle a memorized transaction off to pause it without deleting.

Pending generated transactions appear under upcoming; approve to post, skip to drop this occurrence and advance the date.

Common problems

An auto-entered check posted with last month's amount. Auto Enter uses the template. If the amount varies, use Remind Me and edit before approving.

It stopped generating. It's toggled off, past its End Date, or the next date fell on a locked period.
