Recurring invoices

What this does

Money In → Recurring Invoices holds templates for invoices that repeat: a monthly fleet retainer, a storage fee, an annual domain renewal. On each due date the app generates a draft invoice from the template. You review and send it; nothing is issued or emailed automatically.

Steps

1. Create one: Title, Customer, Line Items (canned jobs work here too), Payment Terms, Memo / Notes.
2. Schedule: Frequency (weekly, biweekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly), Start Date, optional End Date.
3. Save. It's Active. Generated Invoices on the template lists every invoice it has produced.
4. Pause to stop generating without losing it; Resume later. Cancel ends it. A template past its end date marks itself Completed.
5. Generate Now makes the next one immediately if you don't want to wait for the date.

What happens in the books

Nothing at generation; the invoice is a draft. Revenue posts when you issue it, exactly like any other invoice.

Common problems

Drafts are piling up. Someone has to issue them. The template makes the paperwork; it doesn't send it.

The amount changed and old drafts have the old price. Drafts already generated keep the lines they were made with. Edit them, or delete the drafts and Generate Now.
