Accounting: Setup & Concepts
How the ledger works, required settings, and the chart of accounts.
How the books work
LogMyRepair.app keeps a real double-entry ledger. What posts to it, what doesn't, and the one idea that makes the rest make sense.
Required accounting settings
The two accounts nothing posts without, the defaults for payments, and the fiscal year.
Chart of accounts
Seed the default chart, add or edit accounts, and understand the numbering the rest of the app assumes.
Undeposited Funds
Why recorded payments don't move the bank balance, and how a deposit closes the loop.
Period locking
Close a period so nothing posts into it, and open it briefly when you have to.
Journal entries
Post a manual entry when nothing else fits, and void one the right way.
Memorized transactions
Recurring checks, card charges, bills, invoices, and journal entries that the app generates on schedule.
AR onboarding
Bring an opening receivables balance into the ledger once, for a shop that imported invoice history before it had books.
Cash and accrual reports
The ledger is accrual; Profit & Loss and Sales Detail can show cash basis when the period supports it.
Nightly checks
The ledger audits itself every night and files an Exception when something doesn't tie.
