SMS Opt-In & Messaging Policy

Last updated: May 19, 2026

itK Software LLC ("MechFlow", "we", "us") operates the MechFlow platform — software used by independent auto repair shops in the United States to run their businesses. As part of that platform, MechFlow sends SMS messages on behalf of the auto repair shops to the shops' own customers regarding their service visits.

This page explains how customers opt in to those messages, what kinds of messages are sent, message frequency, how to opt out, and how to get help.

Who Sends the Messages

Each SMS message is sent on behalf of an individual auto repair shop that uses MechFlow. The shop is the merchant your vehicle is serviced by; MechFlow is the technology platform that delivers the message. Each message identifies the originating shop by name.

How Customers Opt In

Customers opt in to receive SMS messages from a MechFlow-using shop in one of two ways:

  1. At the service counter, during intake. When a customer drops off a vehicle for service, shop staff ask whether the customer wants to receive transactional SMS updates about their service (appointment reminders, status updates, completion notifications, invoices). If the customer agrees, shop staff record that consent in the customer's record inside MechFlow before any SMS message is sent.
  2. By prior written agreement. Some customers have given written SMS consent through a prior intake or registration process with the shop (for example, customers migrated from a previous shop management system who had already given written consent there). In those cases, the prior consent is honored.

MechFlow does not send marketing or promotional SMS. All messages are transactional and tied to a specific service interaction the customer initiated by bringing a vehicle to the shop.

What Kinds of Messages Are Sent

  • Appointment reminders — Reminders of upcoming scheduled service appointments
  • Service status updates — Notifications when service work begins, when additional work is recommended, or when service is delayed
  • Completion notifications — Notifications that a vehicle is ready for pickup
  • Invoice notifications — Notifications that an invoice is available, with a link to view it
  • Customer communication initiated by shop staff — Direct messages from shop staff to the customer about a specific service visit (for example, requesting authorization for additional work)

Sample Messages

The following are representative examples of messages a customer may receive:

Hi Jane, your vehicle service at Example Auto Shop is complete and ready for pickup. View your invoice: https://mechflow.app/inv/... Reply STOP to opt out.
Reminder: You have a service appointment at Example Auto Shop tomorrow at 2:00 PM. Reply STOP to opt out.

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies by the customer's service activity. A customer typically receives one to four messages per service visit. Customers who do not have an active service visit will not receive messages.

Standard Message & Data Rates

Standard message and data rates may apply, depending on the customer's wireless carrier and plan.

How to Opt Out

Customers can opt out of SMS messages from a MechFlow-using shop at any time by replying STOP to any message they receive. Opt-out is processed automatically; no further messages will be sent to that customer from that shop after the STOP reply is received.

Customers who wish to resume messages after opting out can reply START to the same number, or contact the shop directly to request reinstatement.

How to Get Help

Customers can reply HELP to any message to receive support information, including the originating shop's contact details.

Customers may also contact MechFlow directly to verify their consent status, request information about messages sent to them, or report a problem. Contact information is in the section below.

Privacy

Information collected through MechFlow's SMS messaging, including phone numbers, consent records, and message delivery records, is handled according to MechFlow's Privacy Policy. MechFlow does not sell phone numbers or message content to third parties.
