AI Estimate

What this does

Turns a symptom description ("grinding noise when braking at low speed, brake dust on the front wheels") into a proposed diagnosis and a draft estimate with labor and parts lines. You review it, then create the estimate with one click. It is a starting point for the writer, not a quote to send unread.

Before you start

Pick the customer first; the vehicle helps the result. AI Estimate creates a normal estimate, so the same permissions apply as for creating one by hand.

Steps

  1. Go to Sales → AI Estimate.
  2. Select the Customer and, if known, the vehicle.
  3. In Symptoms / Customer Complaint, describe the problem the way the customer said it. More detail gives a better result: when it happens, what it sounds or feels like, how long it's been going on.
  4. Generate. The result shows a title, the likely work, and proposed lines with prices from your shop defaults.
  5. Read it. If it's wrong, edit the description and generate again.
  6. Create the estimate. It opens as a normal estimate with all lines in place; edit anything before sending.

Common problems

"Please select a customer." The estimate needs a customer to attach to. Pick one first.

Prices are off. The lines use your default labor rate and parts markup. Fix them on the estimate after creating it, or fix the defaults under Settings → Shop Profile if they're wrong everywhere.

The diagnosis is wrong. It usually is when the description is thin. Add the specifics and try again, or create the estimate and replace the lines.
